Frequently Asked Questions

What is the idea?

Imagine owning a piece of twisting road. Each advertiser gets a stretch of road where they can creatively express their business. When visitors click on your piece of the road, they are whisked away to your web site. Each stretch of road is randomly assembled but our whiz-bang shuffling method insures that the road is contiguous with a clear start and end point. It's like "Where's Waldo" meets "Adopt-a-Highway."

Each visit to our site produces a unique and interesting road. Just like snowflakes, you'll never see the same thing twice! This entices repeat visitors and more exposure for our advertisers.

Artists are encouraged to join our site and submit worksamples. Advertisers pay a fixed subscription fee and are able to update their stretch of road as often as they like for no additional cost. We expect that Advertisers will want to take advantage of this and seek help from our gifted Artists.

Who Are You?

My name is Aaron Rosenzweig. I'm joined by my wife, Jen-Lien Fang, and friend Anupam Gupta. We're two coders and an MBA who live in the Washington DC metro area. We're responsible adults ( more-or-less ) who have dreams like anyone else. Our short term goal is to purchase a home. We expect this web site to jump start a grand adventure.

Are you for real?

Give us a call. We'd like to hear your thoughts. Here's the number: 1-888-712-6657 Here's our Email address: roadmarketing@gmail.com. We're flesh and blood mortal men (and a woman). We have had a great deal of enjoyment in building this web site. We're even more thrilled that you've found it. Nothing would give us greater joy than to see you take ownership of your very own piece of road and give it character. Click here to see our full contact information.

Where did the idea come from?

"Originality is the art of concealing one's source." Seriously, no matter how profound and innovative you may think your idea is, it is based on someone else's thoughts even if it might be subconscious. While there is nothing new under the sun, you can still put ideas together in fun and fascinating ways.

It is common for artists to make maps and for businesses to advertise on them. Take for instance the Northern Virginia "Techtopia" map. Click here to see the poster. This is a poster you can buy and can be seen in a few places throughout Northern Virginia. It exists on the web, but doesn't make full use of the medium. The first few times you see this map, you might stop to gaze at it. But it quickly gets boring and you'll never give it another glance.

The thought came to us like a lightening bolt. What if you put some "smarts" into the map - literally breathe life into it? Create a virtual road to a destination, like Las Vegas, but let advertisers own a piece of the road. Let the road grow as more advertisers take part. Randomly piece together the road from start to end. All advertisers will have equal exposure and visitors will repeatedly return because each visit will be exciting! For those who come to see the road will see something new on each visit.

Why should I buy a stretch of road from you?

Because you like us, you really really like us! Or maybe you share the dream. We were the first to create Road Pixel Marketing. Millions of visitors will see the amazing virtual road and will return time and again. Millions of people will click on your piece of the road and then be whisked away to your web site.

Why should I offer my design talents?

If you are good at isometric drafting and/or pixel art, you should strongly consider building a portfolio of work samples on our site. Advertisers are constantly looking for creative talent to help them create an eye catching piece of road. You could be one of the artists they choose.

How long will the road get?

At this moment we do not intend to limit the length. We will, of course, listen to our advertisers. The road needs to grow to a large size to keep it interesting for the visitors. If the road was short, it would get boring quickly. A large road provides a thrilling experience upon each visit as you are bound to see something new each time you stop by.

How long will this web site be up and running?

Our plan is to pass this business on to our children but we guarantee that it will be up and working for at least 10 years.

How many roads are there?

The first is the "Road to Las Vegas." Our software already supports additional roads and advertisers can choose to own roads on one or more of them. When we determine a healthy interest, we'll open more roads.
